Rochester Area Community Foundation Aides SPCAA During COVID-19
GENEVA – St. Peter’s Community Arts Academy (SPCAA), through the generosity of the Rochester Area Community Foundation, has received a grant for $5,000 to help offset the effects of COVID-19. This grant has made it possible for the Academy to operate remotely during most of the pandemic while working towards pivoting to a hybrid model once restrictions were lifted.
SPCAA Academy Administrator Sue Adams says “Now, more than ever, our community needs the arts education the Community Academy provides and with ongoing support, we will continue to provide high quality music and dance education as well as ensure scholarships are made available to those in need.”
The effects of the pandemic were felt in all sectors. St. Peter’s Community Arts Academy was no different. While focusing on a dip in enrollment during the pandemic, SPCAA was able to address issues of engagement and fulfillment on the part of the students. Support from the RACF grant made possible opportunities for students to get excited about the arts, even from home. The grant helped secure teaching staff, implement technology to make virtual lessons possible, and allowed the Academy to continue to offer scholarships, securing a main point of SPCAA’s mission of making the arts accessible to all.
