Employment Opportunity: Cello Faculty
Position: Part-time dance faculty, NOW through June 2025. Approximately 4-8 hours per week.
(Summer 2025, July and August, as determined for summer programming.)

Position Overview:
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated instructor to join our faculty in the Strings Program, Cello Studios, at St. Peter’s Community Arts Academy. The ideal candidate will have a high degree of knowledge in cello pedagogy, professional experience teaching, and be an experienced and knowledgeable performer. Successful candidates will possess a strong commitment to teaching and mentoring students of varying ages and skill levels. This position involves teaching private cello lessons to elementary through adult age students, as well as leading ensemble, or group, cello class to school age cello students.
Responsibilities across the Cello Studios (Strings Program) may include and are not limited to:
-Conduct private cello lessons to students of various ages with personalized lesson plans tailored to each student’s skill level, goals, and \musical preferences.
-Deliver engaging and effective instruction that focuses on technique, musicality, theory, and performance.
-Foster a positive and supportive learning environment that encourages students to strive for excellence and personal growth.
-Lead ensemble, or group, class/es fostering collaboration and musical interaction among students.
-Stay current with teaching methodologies and pedagogical techniques, and innovative approaches for cello instruction.
-Provide regular feedback and progress assessments to students and their parents/guardians.
-Work with Head of Strings Program to assess student progress and skill level for group placement and performance or ensemble opportunities.
-Collaborate with fellow instructors and contribute to the overall growth of the academy’s music and dance programming.
-Participate in SPCAA Faculty / Staff meetings, and required NYS training.
Qualifications:
-Undergraduate degree in Music with a focus in cello performance or pedagogy. A Master’s degree in Cello Performance and/or Pedagogy, Music Education, Therapy is also attractive.
-Demonstrated proficiency in cello performance across a range of genres and styles.
-Previous teaching experience, particularly with students of varying ages and skill levels.
-Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
-Genuine interest in education and a dedication to nurturing students’ musical talents.
-Professionalism, punctuality, and reliability in meeting teaching commitments.
-Ability to collaborate effectively within a team of instructors and staff.
