PETER AND THE WOLF COMES TO HOBART AND WILLIAM SMITH COLLEGES

A production of Peter and the Wolf by Serge Prokofiev will be performed at St John’s Chapel, Hobart and William Smith Colleges on Wednesday, April 6 at 12:30 pm and on Saturday, April 9, at 2:30. This free, family friendly event is a collaboration between the Music, Meditation and Munchies program at the college and the Ballet School at St. Peter’s Community Arts Academy.  Donations are appreciated but not required.

 

MaryAnn Hamilton, organist, is the creator of Music, Meditation and Munchies, a monthly organ program presented through the Office for Spiritual Engagement at Hobart and William Smith Colleges. She collaborates with Alaina Olivieri, director of the Ballet School at SPCAA to create the performance of this beloved story of Peter, a bird, a duck, and a cat and how they outsmart the dangerous wolf. Olivieri is not only the choreographer of the show, but also the set designer and the costumer.  

 

Cast of Characters and the artist/ instruments portraying them: 

  • Alaina Olivieri will be performing the role of Grandfather and the Narrator, portrayed by Lorraine Jones, bassoon
  • En-Ya Shen will be performing as the Wolf.
  • Beatrice Carson will be performing as the Cat, portrayed by Robert Kalweit on clarinet
  • Deanna Holcomb will be performing as Peter, portrayed by MaryAnn Hamilton on the organ
  • Malcolm King will be performing as the Duck, portrayed by Steve Jones on oboe
  • Claire Dunham will be performing as the Bird, portrayed by Diane Peters on flute
  • Reagan Higgins Corbett, Josie Hall, Ava Fratangelo, and Eden Caravita are performing as the Hunters. 

 

The performance is free and will last about 30 minutes with “Munchies” to follow. This is “family friendly” show;  young children are welcome to attend.  There is no charge but donations are appreciated.   Parking is available on the street and In the Visitors section of Medbury Lot off of Pulteney St.
