A lifelong learner and musician, Joe continued his studies privately with guitarist Robert Pickert for over 11 years following his master’s degree. His performance career is as diverse as his teaching, having served as associate conductor and saxophonist with the Finger Lakes Concert Band, and performed with ensembles such as the Finger Lakes Saxophone Quartet, Synergy Rhythm & Blues Band, Angry Bob alternative band, Slo-n-EZ acoustic duo, Boogie Shoes Disco Band, Under Cover Project (a Chicago tribute band), and the Greater Finger Lakes Jazz Orchestra. He has also been active in church music, directing the choir and praise band at the First Baptist Church of Manchester.
In addition to his performance work, Joe has contributed to music education beyond his own classroom, including serving as a guest conductor for the Wayne County Elementary All-County Band and collaborating with many musicians across the region.
Beginning in September 2025, Joe will join the music faculty at St. Peter’s Community Arts Academy in Geneva, NY, where he will teach guitar lessons, guitar ensembles, keyboard classes, and music appreciation. He currently resides in Canandaigua, New York, with his wife Kelly, their daughters Hannah and Emma, and their rescue dog, Red.
